Book: Practising The Power of Now – Essential Teachings, Meditations and Exercises from the Power of Now
Author: Eckhart Tolle
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton, London 2002
I have been fortunate to have read Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now” and through his spiritual teachings and wisdom I have been able to refine ways to access the joy of the present moment. I have found this book enlightening and transforming and was thrilled when I came upon the book “Practising the Power of Now, Essential Teachings, Meditations and Exercises from the Power of Now”.
I think this book is a little gem as it condenses the ideas, concepts and learning’s in the original Power of Now and simplifies it into very clear language that is easy to understand. It gives practical tips and meditations that are easy to sustain as a daily routine to enhance the ability to live in the present and reap the joy and love it offers.
I would recommend this book because through its spiritual teachings it gives an insight and greater understanding on how to access the now and learn the ability to live in the moment and thus have a more fulfilling existence. It concentrates on one becoming aware of Being and connecting with the at oneness both outside and within oneself. It also gives the tools for one to access the spiritual dimension that I believe is the core of the human being which encompasses the mental, emotional and physical dimension that is apparent in us all.
In coaching, resistance to change is a major block for people to overcome. Internal dialogue can have a profound impact and this book discusses the importance of freeing yourself from the attachments of the mind and gives the tools to achieve this among other very interesting concepts on how to live in the now. It is a powerful book and is very much in keeping with the philosophies of coaching and I would recommend it to client and coach alike.
